ELKINS — Two individuals are facing charges after allegedly being found in a stolen vehicle with firearms, counterfeit money, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Cassie Chase Poland, 18, of Fairmont, is charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one felony count of

conspiracy.

Austin Jay Robinson, 18, of Belington, is charged with one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle, one felony count of possession of stolen property (gun), one felony count of possession of counterfeit money and one felony count of conspiracy.

Both Poland and Robinson are incarcerated at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Rob Elbon.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Randolph County Magistrate Court, on Monday, Elkins City Police Patrolmen D.T. Sayre and C.G. Boatwright were patrolling Randolph Avenue in Elkins when they observed a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo parked on the sidewalk along Park Street

Officers observed the male driver of the vehicle to be Robinson, who is known to not have a valid West Virginia driver’s license, according to the complaint.

The license plate number for the vehicle was run through Randolph County 911 and came back as being stolen out of Barbour County, with Robinson as a potential suspect, police said.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Robinson and the passenger as Poland. During a search of both individuals, Sayre located a baggy containing a white crystal-like substance and $3,700 on Poland’s person. Boatwright conducted a search of Robinson and located $100, the complaint stated.

After Robinson told officers it was OK to search the vehicle, Boatwright found a Kimber Ultra Carry II firearm and a Charles Daly firearm under the front passenger seat, according to the complaint.

In the center console of the vehicle, officers also located a 9mm firearm and 100 insulin syringes, according to the complaint.

Officers requested Randolph County 911 to run the serial numbers of the firearms. The 9mm came back as being stolen out of Randolph County, police said.

While continuing to search the vehicle, officers found 10 $50 bills in the driver’s side door of the vehicle which were believed to be counterfeit, based on them having identical serial numbers, the complaint states.

The bag found in Poland’s possession also had three smoking devices and a scale inside. Officers also recovered “numerous amounts” of ammunition – ranging from .380-caliber to .45-caliber, the complaint states.

Starting at $3.92/week.
