Ardath ‘Sheila’ Prouty

Born in Washington, DC, in 1939, Sheila was the daughter of the late Paul and Lucille (Hale) Charles.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarke, in 2008; and is survived by her four children, Karen Shea of Lexington, North Carolina, her late husband, Sean Shea, and her partner, Jeff Swicegood; Katherine Hillegas of Gambrills, Maryland, Carol Metzger and her husband, Johnny, of Gambrills, Maryland, and Scott Prouty and his wife, Anne Hartman, of Toronto, Ontario.

She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Dustin Brians and his wife, Sarah Bice, Paige Parker and her husband, Brian Parker, and Morgan Hillegas and her fiance, Clayton Lipscomb III.

Her legacy continues through her five great-grandchildren, Clayton Lipscomb IV, Naomi Lipscomb, Zadie Parker, Esme Bice Brians and Booker Bice Brians.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at noon from Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills, Maryland.

A Celebration of Life will take place immediately after the service.

She will be laid to rest at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
