On behalf of the Randolph County Democratic Executive Committee and the Randolph County Democratic Women, I’d like to express sincere appreciation to our candidates who ran in the Nov. 8 election. The “Respect for Marriage Act” threatens America’s most basic freedom and disrespects marriage by changing its meaning with the full force of the Democrats in Congress. Your Nov. 15 headline “Timber Controversy: Protesters met by counter-protesters in Elkins” would have been more accurately written “Timber Travesty.”   The protest organized by rural citizens and groups to fight the U.S. Forest Service’s ridiculous plan to clear-cut 3,500 acres in the Lead Mine area of Tucker County is about safeguarding the area from flooding and from the destruction of water supplies. Dear Gov. Justice, It has come to our attention that Pendleton Senior and Family Services has been the topic of discussion over the last several months. Apparently, the closing of our North Fork satellite nutrition site has caused some stir among individuals in a bordering county. It seems that there is confusion as to how our closure will affect other nutrition sites around the state.
