Recycling events deemed successful

Recently the Randolph County Solid Waste Authority held two recycling events, one for electronics and the other for tires. Each was a big success. A total of 5,611 pounds of electronics were taken on April 16. We give thanks to the following people and organizations for making this event possible: Chris Lee of the Phil Gainer Center for the use of the parking lot; the Sanitation Department from the City of Elkins for the use of the roll-off; and the Randolph County Community Corrections and P.C. Holy Week luncheons deemed successful

Holy Week luncheons deemed successful Church Women United of Elkins would like to thank the community for their support of our recent Holy Week lunches. Through your donations we received $1,130 over the five days of lunches. Thank you for attending, worshipping with Randolph County Coalition of Christian Churches’ ministers, and eating lunch with us. The money will be used to support local non-profit organizations that we designate at our May Friendship Day celebration on May 6. The number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s is growing — and growing fast. More than 6 million Americans of all ages are living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Resident explains why she is a candidate

The beauty of Tucker County may be why my ancestors decided to settle here. (If your last name is Stiles or Spessert, we’re likely related). After a career in rural studies and humanities, and farming part-time, I returned home to where my Grandma and Grandad Stiles and my Dad had farmed.
