Remember heroes on Veterans Day

Since our Declaration of Independence, over 60 million Americans have claimed the honor of having served the nation in its military forces. Since that time, over a million have lost their lives for our colors, with millions more wounded. As we travel across our great nation, we see thousands of cemeteries where several million military veterans lie in their final resting places. I am writing the Tucker County Commission to defend the Emergency Ambulance Fee (EAF). This fee is crucial to the welfare of the citizens of Tucker County. The funds generated by the EAF, along with other funding sources, have allowed Tucker County EMS (TCEMS) to make great strides forward in the prehospital care of the citizens of Tucker County. Well readers, we have been introduced to the next chapter of mollycoddling, this time involving a handful of students who were obviously used by one or more adults to drive an agenda, some of whom may or may not work for the BOE. To Robert Ware, your recent letter to the Editor’s Page of the Oct. 16 edition of The Inter-Mountain left me rather concerned. I read it three times to make sure that I got the gist of it and each time left me feeling the same: This wasn’t good. As a teacher of civics, an elected official and a member of the LGBTQ community, Mr. (Cody) Thompson was wrong to condemn students protesting a mural at Mill Creek. Mr. Thompson, those students’ rights do not end where yours begin. Students have led the way on protests, challenging the complacency of established politicians standing silently while we move towards the point where it will be too late to reverse. As summer has passed us by, Our Town, Inc. has many community groups and individuals to thank and recognize for making the summer 2021 program Our Nation, Our People, Our Town a success.
