MILL CREEK — Tyrand Cooperative Ministries Inc. has selected Destiny Swecker as a recipient of a scholarship from the Edwin Bryon and Elva Mary Humphreys Memorial Scholarship Trust that is held at the United Methodist Foundation of West Virginia. Edwin Humphreys’ desire in creating the scholarship trust at the foundation was to ‘make a difference’ in the lives of others through education.

Swecker is a 2020 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and will be attending West Liberty University in the fall to work on a bachelor’s degree in animal science and nutrition to prepare her in her plans to become a veterinarian. Her goal is to become a veterinarian and open an animal clinic in her hometown to help large and small animals.

During her years at Tygarts Valley, she participated in food drives for Tyrand Cooperative Ministries’ Food Pantry. She was a member of Upward Bound, National Honor Society, Key Club and National Society of High School Scholars.

Swecker loves animals of all kinds and states that if you do something you love, you will never work a day of your life.
