ELKINS — Law enforcement officers are investigating a shooting incident that took place in Elkins Thursday evening.

The City of Elkins released the following information Thursday night:

“At 6:50 p.m. tonight, the Elkins Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies responded to a reported shooting near Dent Street in Elkins. One person has been transported to the hospital. No other details are available at this time. If you have information about this incident, please call 304-636-0678.”

EPD officers and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies were at a Dent Street residence at about 8 p.m. Thursday investigating the scene of the reported shooting.

Davis Medical Center was placed on lockdown after the shooting incident, according to published reports. Dent Street is located across the street from the hospital.
