ELKINS — Elkins High School has chosen its 2022 Homecoming Court. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at the football game against Philip Barbour High School on Friday at EHS.

Representing the freshman class is Raighan Hall Carte. Raighan is a member of the Elkins High School cross country team, the Rays swim team and will be a member of the EHS swim team and track team. Raighan is the freshmen class council president and is a member of student government. Her future plans include going to college to study marine biology or forensic science and to swim collegiately. She is the daughter of John Carte and Heather Hall.

Kyra Sage Sauerwein is representing the sophomore class. Kyra is a member of the EHS volleyball team. She is a passionate advocate for organ donation and volunteers for the Center for Organ Recovery and Education. She plans on attending WVU and majoring in exercise physiology with hopes of becoming a physical therapist. She is the daughter of the late Chris Sauerwein and Candice Sauerwein.

Representing the junior class is Saniya Pratt Taylor. Saniya is involved as a dancer in Dance by Farrah. She is also a member of Wildlife. Her future plans include going to West Virginia University to become a physical therapist. She is the daughter of Seth and Michelle Pratt.

Princess Hannah Faye Beam is a representative of the senior class. She plays varsity volleyball for Elkins High School. She is a member of National Honor Society and has been on the Honor Roll at EHS. She attends church at Rivers of the Living Water Ministries. She plans to continue working at 7 Performance as she works to become a PTA. She is the daughter of Amanda Hewitt.

Princess Melody Calkins is a representative of the senior class. She dances at the Gandy Dancer Theater. She is a member of the Center Stage Dance competition team. She also helps with Pioneer Trails Ministry in an attempt to help fight hunger in the community. She plans to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College and major in Art and Design and to double minor in Dance and business. She hopes to eventually open her own dance studio. She is the daughter of John and Jodi Calkins.

Princess Megan Taylor Grace Cox is a representative of the senior class. She is a member of the varsity volleyball and tennis teams at EHS. She is also a member of club travel volleyball. She also dances. She is involved with class council, Skills USA and is on the honor roll. She plans to attend WVU to study health sciences. She is the daughter of Jaime Cox and Kevin Lynch.

Princess Miriam Christienne Fath is a representative of the senior class. She is the varsity cheer captain and also is a member of varsity tennis at EHS. She is a member of National Honor Society, is on the honor roll, and attends the Presbyterian Church. She plans to attend WVU and major in political science and go to law school. She is the daughter of Ricky and Traci Fath.

Princess Kendall Flynn is a representative of the senior class. She has been a member of band for eight years and in that time has been a section leader and became a band commander during her junior year. She is a member of National Honor Society and is a Drum Major for EHS. She plans to attend WVU and major in social work. She is the daughter of Heidi Hawkins.

Princess Olivia Ann Guire is a representative of the senior class. She is a captain of the varsity volleyball team. She is a member of National Honor Society, is on the honor roll and attends St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was named to the Second team Big 10 conference and has been athlete of the week twice. She plans to get her BSN in nursing and hopes to become a nurse practitioner. She is the daughter of Tom and Jennifer Guire.

Princess Kennedy Lane Hart is a representative of the senior class. She is a member of both varsity soccer and softball. She is also a member of class council and is on the honor roll. She plans on attending WVU to become a pediatrician. She is the daughter of Bobby Hart and Leslie Siler.

Princess Kenzie Phillips is a representative of the senior class. She plays volleyball for EHS and enjoys playing with her three nieces. She is a member of class council and student government. She attended Rhododendron Girls State. She plans on getting her RN to become a labor and delivery nurse. She is the daughter of Tommy and Valerie Phillips.

Princess Alexa Jaden Price is a representative of the senior class. She is a four-year letterman of the EHS soccer team. She has received first team all-region, second team all-conference and honorable mention all-state. She is a member of National Honor Society, student government, and class council and will finish the occupational therapies program in May 2023. She plans to go to college and get her RSN to become registered nurse. She is the daughter of Ashley and Shaun Stipes.

Princess Sophia Shoemaker is a representative of the senior class. She is a member of the track & field team and volunteers at Davis Medical Center. She is the EHS Student Body President, National Honor Society President and a member of class council. She plans to attend college and major in biochemistry and continue on to medical school. She is the daughter of Chad and Christie Shoemaker.

This year’s flower girl for the Homecoming Court is Anna Noel Talbott. She attends Third Ward Elementary School and is in the fourth grade. She is the daughter of Aaron and Ruthann Talbott. Her grandparents are Willie and Beverly Talbott, Sandy Tice and Kent Winn and Tom and Peg Smith. She has five siblings, Clare, Eliott, Lee, Lucy and Sebastian Talbott.

The crown bearer for the court is Griffin Cutright. He attends Jennings Randolph Elementary and is in the second grade. He is the son of Scott and Holly Cutright. His grandparents are Doug and Sandy Williams and Danny and Joy Cutright. He has two siblings, Hannah and Tucker Cutright.

The Homecoming Queen will be crowned by the 2021 Homecoming Queen Alexa Triplett. The flower girl and crown bearer will be escorted by Principal Carla Lambert.
