ELKINS — A two-vehicle motor vehicle accident Saturday on Corridor H claimed the life of an Elkins woman, officials said.

According to a release issued by Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, Louanna Carr was pronounced dead by the medical examiner at Davis Medical Center after being transported to the facility by the Randolph County Emergency Squad.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to wish our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family and will continue to pray for their peace at this tragic time,” Elbon wrote in the press statement.

At approximately 12:37 p.m. on Saturday, emergency personnel were called to the Crystal Springs intersection of Harrison Avenue and Route 33.

According to the release, 911 advised that there were injuries as a result of an accident.

Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies L. Elbon and J. Wolfe were the first to arrive on the scene and were assisted by members of the Elkins Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, according to the report.

A dually truck hauling a farm trailer loaded with cattle collided with the vehicle driven by Carr, who was extracted by the Elkins Fire Department. The driver of the truck was also transported to Davis Medical Center, according to the report.

A local farm owner offered to hold the cattle that were in the truck involved in the accident until they could later be picked up by the owner, the report states. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office requested that the West Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team respond to the scene and investigate the accident.

While onsite, the team diagrammed the crash site to calculate speed and skid distance.

No charges were issued at the time of the collision and the accident remains under investigation.
