Uncle Sam’s Birthday Party planned in Tucker
ELKINS — The Tucker County Foundation will host its 35th annual Uncle Sam’s Birthday Party on July 4 at the Bear Paw Lodge of Canaan Valley State Park.
“Since this is the 35th Anniversary of our Uncle Sam’s Birthday Party, which has the theme of Fireworks Fiesta, the Foundation has partnered with Citizens Bank of West Virginia and West Virginia Fiesta Tableware Company to present every person who attends the dinner a Fiesta Ware commemorative plate specially designed just for this event,” said Michael Moore, Chief Financial Officer for the Foundation. “This plate will not be available anywhere else at any time and you must be present to receive the commemorative plate. Everyone attending the dinner will go home with something. So, everyone who attends the dinner will be a winner.”
Only 250 tickets will be sold and are now available for the celebration, which will feature an elimination raffle, plated dinner, door prizes, and additional raffle prizes. Each ticket is good for a dinner for two and entry into the elimination drawing and its grand prize of $10,000.
A petite filet and crab cake will be the main course for this year’s dinner. A vegetarian option is also available and there will be a cash bar at the event. Every 25th ticket drawn during the event will receive the cost of their ticket back.
In addition to the grand prize, there will be cash prizes that range from $250 to $1,000. Other prizes include a weekend package vacation at the Greenbrier Resort that includes a weekend round of golf.
The annual ‘Total Tucker’ awards will include local gift certificates to skiing, golfing, food establishments and more. There will also be pieces of artwork and other locally themed items up for grabs. The final awards package for this year’s Fireworks Fiesta is a his and her set of Aventon eBikes that are valued at more than $3,000.
“Since the raffle packages have been upgraded this year for the 35th anniversary, all people attending are encouraged to bring extra money this year to buy those raffle tickets,” Moore said. “The dinner tickets are selling fast, so purchase your tickets now before they are gone.”
Proceeds for the event help fund the Tucker Community Foundation’s scholarships and grants programs. The programs have issued over $1,300,000 in grants and over 50 different scholarships to students in the region.
