Rosenau files as Independent candidate for Tucker Commission
Rosenau
PARSONS – The president of the Tucker County Commission, Mike Rosenau, has filed as an Independent candidate to run for re-election.
Rosenau, who was previously a Democrat, will not be listed on the Primary Election ballot in May. However, he will be listed as an Independent candidate for County Commission on the November General Election ballot.
“I will be on the General Election ballot, I won’t be on the Primary Election ballot,” Rosenau told The Inter-Mountain Wednesday morning.
“With all the conflict that there is going on in our country, the only thing that I’m focused on is Tucker County. So to me, it’s best if I just move forward as an independent,” Rosenau said.
“Everybody in Tucker County knows me, we all know each other over here,” he added. “The bottom line is, with all the controversy going on in the world now, I would like to move forward as an independent and just focus on Tucker County.”
One other candidate, Republican Jon Bush, has also filed to run for the Shavers Fork District seat on the Tucker County Commission.
Four candidates have filed for the three open Tucker County Board of Education seats in the May election.
Three of the four BOE candidates that put in paperwork are seeking re-election, including Cathy Hebb, Teresa Simmons and Kevin White.
Candidates filing for the three Board of Education seats can be from any of the three districts – Shavers Fork, Cheat River or Blackwater. Hebb and Simmons currently represent the Shavers Fork District, while White is the Cheat River District representative.
Davis Mayor Al Tomson is the fourth candidate running for BOE and has filed to run in the Blackwater District. The top three vote-getters will each win a seat.
The last day for West Virginia residents to register to vote or make any changes to voter registration is on April 21. West Virginia election information, including forms, deadlines, guidance, and a list of all the candidates can be found at GoVoteWV.com.
