FUNDRAISER: Washington District Community Club’s annual yard sale fundraiser will be today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Washington District Volunteer Fire Company, 6338 Tallmansville Rd, Tallmansville, WV. Glassware, household items, books, home decor, bedding, clothes, shoes, knick knacks, and much more. There will be baked goods and hotdogs too.
LITTER CLEANUP: Elkins Make it Shine will host a litter cleanup event Saturday at the Elkins Train Depot beginning at 11:30 a.m. Those participating will walk the railroad tracks from the depot to McDonalds. Make it Shine will provide litter grabbers, gloves and trash bags.
HOT DOG SALE: Whitmer Community Church will be selling hot dogs on Saturday, May 9, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone can purchase a hot dog or a meal. Proceeds will go towards benefiting the church’s Vacation Bible School. For more information, contact Susie Wymer at 304-227-4260.
HARMAN SCHOOL ALUMNI DINNER: will be Saturday, May 9 at Harman School. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Anyone who attended Harman School is welcome. Reservation and payment are due by April 30 and payment will be accepted no later than May 1. Arrangements can be made to pay at the door. Reservation numbers are needed for the caterer. PEPPERONI ROLL SELL: Kump Education Center will host a pepperoni roll sale on May 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old IGA parking lot. The sale is to benefit students’ scholarships for summer programs.The meal includes Gino’s pepperoni roll, cole slaw, chips, water and a cookie.
MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION: will be Saturday, May 9 with a multi-vendor market at the Mill Creek fire house. The event will feature a craft show, a yard sale, a flea market and chicken burn. The doors will open for vendors at 7 a.m. for set up. Everyone will be welcome from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The chicken burn pick-up will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be presented by the Huttonsville/Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
ELKINS PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Elkins Purple Majesties (Red Hats) will meet Monday, May 11, at 11:30 a.m. at El Toro Steakhouse, 2064 Beverly Pike, Elkins. All members and guests are welcome. ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY: will hold regular meeting on May 12 at 7 p.m. in the library at the IOOF Building located along the Beverly Five-lane. Those interested in genealogy are encouraged to attend and become a member of ARFHS. WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The Wednesday Pickin’ Country Music Jam Sessions are continuing to take place weekly at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue in Elkins. The jam sessions are co-sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center and C.J. Maggie’s. The Country Music Jams will now be from 3:30-6 p.m. Wednesday. Players, singers and listeners are welcome. The Old-Time Music Jams which were previously held at Armadillo Flats, following the Country Jams, will resume at a later date, time and location to be announced. BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph County Lodge IOOF will host the last sourdough buckwheat of the season at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, May 16, from 7 a.m. until noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee and orange juice. Carry-outs will be available.
BEVERLY SCHOOL ALUMNI BANQUET: The 92nd Beverly School Alumni Banquet will be Saturday, May 23, at the Steer Steakhouse in Elkins. Registration and social hour will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Everyone who attended Beverly School is invited to attend. OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. TOPS 0590 MILL CREEK: meets at the Russell Memorial Library in Mill Creek every Wednesday. Weigh-in is from 10:30-10:45 a.m. The meeting follows weigh-in. For information, call 304-338-6403.
