Morris opposes transmission line plan

ELKINS — State Senator Robbie Morris, R-11th District, has attended a pair of public events to voice his opinion about a proposed transmission line by the Valley Link company that would run through 15 West Virginia counties.    The proposed Valley North Project would stretch across 260 miles in the Mountain State, and would run through parts of Randolph, Tucker, Barbour and Upshur counties.      Morris, who opposes the project, attended community meetings in Barbour and Tucker counties to discuss the project with residents.        "The project will bring in high tension, ...

DOH awards new Corridor H contract

WARDENSVILLE - A new contract for Corridor H has been awarded to extend the highway from Wardensville to the Virginia state line. This is the first contract to be awarded by the West Virginia Division of Highways for the Wardensville section. Triton Construction Inc. was awarded the $85,425,000 contract to fabricate the approximately 3.74 mile section from Trout Run Cutoff Road to Waites Run Road, according to the state Department of Transportation. ELKINS – The local area just marked National Forensic Interviewers Week – a week-long recognition for the forensic interviewers at Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) for the work they’re doing with children daily when there is a disclosure or suspicion of abuse. A CAC provides a safe, child-friendly facility where child protection, criminal justice, and child treatment professionals work together to investigate abuse, hold offenders accountable, and help children heal.
