Company receives $1M USDA Forest Service Grant

SLATYFORK – A Pocahontas lumber company has been awarded a $1 million federal grant to install new techonology at its sawmill. Beckwith Lumber Company, Inc. will receive $1,030,900 through the USDA Forest Service Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Program to install a new vertical line resaw system at its hardwood sawmill in Slatyfork. Jury rules on hospital lawsuit

PARKERSBURG - A federal jury found Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital Corp. liable for one count each of civil conspiracy and vicarious liability and awarded Memorial Health System $5 million in compensatory damages. The verdict was reached Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia in Wheeling following a trial that began Aug. 5. Two Randolph women sentenced for battery incident

ELKINS — Two Randolph County women were sentenced to supervised probation with conditions after they forced their way into an apartment and began fighting with a resident inside in 2025. Destiny Rose McDonald, 26, of Elkins, was sentenced on Aug. 6 by Randolph County Circuit Court Judge David Wilmoth to one year of incarceration for one count of battery and one year of incarceration for one count of destruction of property, both misdemeanors.
