Adrian J. Burner

Adrian J. Burner, 88, a resident of Philippi, passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday Aug. 26, 2023.

Adrain was born April 21, 1935, in Union, a son of the late Olen and Virginia (Bolyard) Burner, who were the parents of six children.

He was united in marriage to Kay Burner, who survives.

Also surviving are his children from a previous marriage, Dean and Kevin Burner; and a sister, Karen and her husband, Gary Coffman.

Adrian was preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Virginia Burner; siblings, Lorraine Allison, Loueda Shaffer, Lora Ervin and Olen “Bud” Burner Jr.

Adrian was a graduate of Philip Barbour High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at Goodyear Aerospace as a machinist and supervisor until 1997.

Adrian resided in Akron, Ohio, until 1998 when he returned home to Phillipi. He enjoyed playing golf, performing with the local gospel band “The Good Ole’ Boys” and was an active member of the Southern Baptist Church.

Adrian loved his wife, Kay, his boys, Dean and Kevin, and his buddies, Martin Daugherty and Denver Mayle.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday Sept. 2, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. with Pastor Jim Strawderman officiating.
