Katherine Louise Poling Pine, 82, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life late Thursday evening, July 25, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice. She had been in declining health.
She was born Friday, Aug. 22, 1941, at Parsons, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Porter Poling and Glenda George Poling.
On Aug. 22, 1958, at Parsons, West Virginia, she was married to Darl Franklin Pine, who preceded her in death May 6, 2014. They had celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis James Pine and wife, Patty, of Belington, and Darrell Allen Pine of Parsons; one daughter, Darlene Louise Lambert and husband, Thomas, of Elkins; two brothers, Edward Poling and wife, Eileen, of Parsons, and Richard Poling and wife, Steffine, of Keyser; one sister, Glenda Lipscomb of Parsons; six grandchildren, Aaron Greer, Kevin Lambert, Jonathan Pine, Jessica Pine, David Pine and Ashley Pine; four great-grandchildren, Josh Greer, Kaylin Long, Aiden Long and Bentney Swecker; three step-grandchildren, Josh Arbogast, Lacy Arbogast and Travis Talbott.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1959. She was an employee of the former Dorman Mills, Parsons Shoe Factory and the WV Children’s Home as a cook. She also cooked for eight years at the Tucker County Jail when her husband Darl was Sheriff. She has worked for Shop & Save as a baker for 25 years. Katherine was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Women Society, and worked at the food pantry when it first started, and she remained there until June of 2024. She was also janitor at the church for several years and cared for the nursery. She has belonged to the Gideons Auxiliary for 35 years.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
On Tuesday morning, July 30, 2024, Mrs. Pine will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at Parsons, West Virginia, where final rites will be conducted at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Julie Davis will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, Weset Virginia.
