James Carrel Wagoner

Mr. James Carrel Wagoner, 93, a resident of Belington, departed this life Wednesday afternoon May 14, 2025, in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center at Clarksburg. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born Jan. 30, 1932, at the Hall Community in Buckhannon, West Virginia, a son of the late Solomon Leonard “Boss” and Iva Everson Wagoner.
He had never married.
Left to cherish his memory is his nephew, Mickey Wagoner and wife, Dion, of Belington; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Wagoner, Leonard Wagoner, Rufford Wagoner, Frank Wagoner and Haywood Lee Wagoner; and one sister, Virginia Rose Baker.
James attended the schools of Upshur County and was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was previously employed by Demotto Coal as a coal miner, he then worked for Masketeers factory inc. in Belington and lastly worked for Jim Harris Furniture in Belington. He was Christian by faith and was always a hard worker in everything he did, especially farming. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Monday May 19, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday May 20, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel, with the Evangelist Michael Phillips officiating.
Interment will then follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton where full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 96 of Belington and the United States Army.
