Barbara J. Hinchman

Barbara was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Cumberland, Maryland, to Henry and Jennie Bucy.

She was reared by her foster parents, Howard and Hazel Thorne of Beverly, West Virginia. She was a 1939 graduate of Beverly High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Davis & Elkins College in 1943.

She was a business teacher at Miami Trace High School in Washington C.H., Ohio, for 33 years. She had previously taught for three years in West Virginia.

Barbara was a member of the Madison Mills United Methodist Church and the Ohio and Fayette County Retired Teachers Associations. She was an avid reader and genealogist; loved family gatherings and was an awesome cook

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Hinchman, in 1991; her son, Randall Lee Hinchman in 2008; and a brother, W. Montgomery Bucy.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Highlawn Cemetery in Washington C.H., Ohio, under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H., Ohio.
