Barbour plans to take a ‘Snow Day’

Hello and Happy New Year from Barbour County! The year 2020 has arrived, and it brought some snow along. I would like to send a big thank you to the DOH for doing such an awesome job this season.

The Barbour County Fairgrounds is planning a winter event. The first annual Snow Day will be fun for the whole community. There will be sled runs, a bonfire, complete with marshmallows, hotdogs and cookies, and snow activities. The event date is pending, as it depends on getting the adequate snow.

The Barbour County cancer support group will have their monthly meeting on Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi. This is open to all cancer survivors, caregivers and family members. For more information, call Deanna at (304) 457-2684.

There will be no school in Barbour County on Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Diecast Dragsters will be having a Hotwheels Race on Jan. 26. Registration begins at 1 p.m., with the race starting at 2 p.m. This is a great time for children, young and old to come out and have some fun.

Mark your calendar for the Barbour County Winter Fair, which will take place March 6-7. Craft tables are available for $15 per space, and can be reserved by calling (304) 669-6833.
