Getting civilized is good for our health

Congratulations to South Korea for finally joining Western civilization in banning dog meat trade. When will we be taking the next civilized step of banning all animal meat trade? What ever makes dogs more deserving of life and liberty than cows and pigs? But there is more. According to the United Nations, meat and dairy use 83% of global farmland and account for 60% of agriculture’s greenhouse gas emissions. Harman supporter objects to comments

My comments are directed towards the information provided and the comments made by Superintendent Dilly regarding the ongoing discussion on the closure of Harman School. This is not a personal attack on Dr. Dilly. My comments, however, reveal the shortsightedness of many of the conclusions and recommendations presented at the Board of Education meeting of Jan. 14. I don’t think Dr. Dilly expected to see the level of support for our children, grandchildren and communities as he has observed in the last few weeks and will witness again over the next months. Doctors respond to letter to the editor

This letter is in response to the letter from Chanda Adkins in the Jan. 6 edition of The Inter-Mountain. Ms. Adkins is exhorting people to come to a rally at the state Capitol called the WV Health Freedom Day, and is advocating for West Virginians to have the option of not vaccinating their children for school. We, the undersigned, are against such legislation. Presently, West Virginia is one of just a few states who have strict requirements for vaccines at school entry. Randolph County DOH crews saluted

For whatever it is worth coming from me, I want to give a long overdue and well deserved shout-out to the Randolph County DOH crews who pick up dead deer along the road. While it isn’t the most pleasant job and sometimes can be quite disgusting, it is a very necessary job which not only contributes to the aesthetic quality of our county but also aids in traffic safety. So pervasive is the decline of America that it has given birth to its own school of thought. Something in America is fundamentally wrong and until it is fixed, America will neither compete effectively in global markets nor provide an adequate standard of living for its citizens.
