Reader supports Kolsun for Elkins City Council

Dear Editor I wanted the citizens of Elkins, especially First Ward, why I am supporting and voting for Phillips Kolsun, running for a seat representing First Ward, on the Elkins City Council I have known Phillips for most of his life, as a young boy, a family friend, as a student, an entrepreneur, a fellow church member and a neighbor. Cameras should be used for ticketing

I recently read in The Inter-Mountain that the City of Elkins has been awarded a grant to purchase cameras to be placed at intersections within Elkins. My hope is that the cameras will be used not only to track criminals that may be passing through the city but also that law enforcement will use the cameras in order to write citations for violations of traffic laws. I also hope that some cameras will be placed at “static” intersections where only stop signs are located. If not maybe, the City of Elkins will decide to replace current stop signs with yield signs. Event set for retiring, disposing of old flags

Randolph County and surrounding areas! It’s once again that time of year when the American Legion Post 29 of Elkins performs its duty of the “Dignified Retirement and Disposal” of old and unserviceable flags. We have a drop box at the post, to the left of the front doors for that purpose. It is acceptable 24/7 for your convenience. Flag Day this year is June 14. We will retire the flags on the 17th. Another successful recycling event held

The Randolph County Solid Waste Authority held their annual tire recycling event this past Saturday, April 22. At day’s end, a total of around 5,500, or five tractor trailer loads of tires, were collected. What does that mean? That means that there are 5,500 tires that will not be found in the bottom of a river or on the side of a mountain. For those that brought tires in, we thank you.
