Reader proposes name for ballfield

I, Stanley Gould, TVHS alumni, Class 1971, would like to recommend that the baseball field at Tygarts Valley High School be named “Coach Floyd L. Thomas III Memorial Field.” Coach Thomas started his coaching career in 1973 as head football and baseball coach at Tygarts Valley High School. While at TVHS, his baseball record was 150-53. Coach Thomas and the baseball teams accumulated five sectional titles, two regional titles and two undefeated state championships. He was honored as West Virginia Baseball Coach of the Year in 1979. Reader: Disabled vets need assistance It is long past time to compensate disabled veterans fairly. Our disabled veterans are grossly under compensated. They’ve been asking various Congresses and Administrations for fair and adequate compensation since the end of WWI in November 1918, 104 years ago! In FY2023 a totally disabled veteran with no dependents is compensated at the ridiculous rate of $43,463.40 dollars annually. Destroying rural scenic highways

Picture yourself driving along one of West Virginia’s scenic rural roads. As your car reaches the top of a small hill, you pull over and get out to enjoy the view. Behind you stretch miles of destruction and a muddy river in the distance. Beyond that, you can see the deep, serene shades of a forest under attack. The Democratic left of this country has been backing a system in which police are defunded, in which criminals are released early from prison or never go at all. Stores across the U.S. are closing because shoplifting is no longer being prosecuted, private property overran by the homeless, open borders allowing fentanyl and methamphetamine to flood our country. Animal hoarding can lead to tragedies

There are animal hoarders in virtually every community. Their compulsions often lead to horrific consequences for animals, as allegedly happened in Randolph County, where authorities reportedly discovered 11 dogs and 40 cats in deplorable, unlivable conditions, as well as 41 deceased cats. Studies show that nearly 100 percent of animal hoarders relapse, which is why proper sentencing and follow-ups are essential.
