ELKINS — The Elkins Middle School varsity girls defeated Tygarts Valley, 31-22, in the first-ever Hornet Invitational title game Saturday at the EMS gymnasium.

Madison Zirkle had 11 points and Maura O’Neill seven for the Hornets, who finished the season 14-2.

Kailen Yokum led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points.

In Friday’s win over Buckhannon-Upshur, Madison Shreve had 14 points for EMS.

In the boys title game, Robert L. Bland defeated Tygarts Valley.

Elkins lost to Buckhannon-Upshur, 51-35, in the consolation game.

Kaden George had 10 points and Preston Eversole and Evan Hammonds five apiece for the Hornets, who ended the season 3-14.

Jerin Westfall netted 13 points for the Little Bucs.
