Little League District 8 tournaments begin today
ELKINS — Play begins today in the Little League District 8 11-12-year-old and 8-9-10-year-old tournaments at Riverbend Park.
In 11-12-year-old action today, Elkins hosts Clay County at 8 p.m. and Tucker County battles Summersville at 6 p.m.
Games set for Saturday in the double-elimination tournament include Braxton County vs. Tygarts Valley (2 p.m.), Belington vs. the Tucker County-Summersville winner (7 p.m.), Pocahontas County vs. Craigsville (4:30 p.m.) and an elimination game (6 p.m.).
The tournament continues through June 30.
Members of the Elkins All-Stars include Kenny Barkley, Daniel Bennett, Bentley Currence, Jordan Hamrick, Masen Helmick, Gauge Monk, Aiden Pennington, Bronson Pyles, Rocco Shepler, Cooper Warner, Jay Watson and Kyler Wilson.
In 8-9-10-year-old action today, Elkins faces Belington at 5:30 p.m. and Tygarts Valley meets Tucker County at 7:45 p.m.
The Elkins-Belington winner faces Summersville at 1 p.m. Saturday and the Tygarts Valley-Tucker County victor battles Braxton County at 3:30 p.m.
The double-elimination tourney concludes on June 30.
The Elkins All-Stars include Kyler Goux, Bryer Helmick, Maddix Hinkle, Liam Jackson, JP Jones, Kyson Langevin, Harrison Leigh, Waylon McDonald, Beckett Pritt, Carson Riffle, Christian Sanson and Kade Troastle.
The winners and runner-ups of each tourney advance to the state tournament.
