BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan makes its home debut this evening when Clarion University visits Cebe Ross Field.

The Bobcats were plagued by six turnovers in last Saturday’s 51-14 setback at Post University in the season opener.

Junior Ryan Stephens rushed for 64 yards, sophomore Kevin Montague 47 and sophomore Mason White 45 in the setback.

Montague and White had rushing touchdowns.

Senior Logan Landers and junior Quinton Pulley both saw time at quarterback.

Junior Jordan Heyward was the top pass-catcher with seven receptions for 56 yards.

Sophomore linebacker Mack White led the defense with nine total tackles, while freshman defensive back Janaris Foster added seven and sophomore defensive back Harrison Jeffries six.

The Golden Eagles also received touchdowns from Holt Egan and Ja’Tawn Williams, while defensive back Zay Brisbane had four tackles and four pass break-ups.

Wesleyan coach Dwayne Martin, entering his fifth season at the helm, was a longtime assistant at Clarion.

Tonight’s game will be the third meeting between the teams, and first since 1996.

The Bobcats will remain home next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against Ohio Dominican University and will begin MEC play Sept. 20 against visiting West Virginia State for a 1 p.m. contest.
