Lady Tigers drop verdict to North; EHS boys earn draw

ELKINS — The Elkins High School girls soccer team dropped a 2-1 verdict to Big 10 Conference foe North Marion Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.
The match was scoreless at the half, but the Lady Huskies used goals from Rysa Besedich and Shyanne Griffin en route to the win.
The Lady Tigers (2-3-3), who tied regional opponent Keyser on Saturday, are slated to visit Braxton County at 8 p.m. today.
In the boys contest, the Tigers battled North Marion to a 1-1 draw.
Freshman Luke Valentine had a first-half goal to tie the contest for Elkins.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the second half.
“Going into this match we knew it was going to be a difficult game, especially on set pieces” Tigers coach Scott Cutright said. “It was a hard-fought game and I’m proud of the boys’ effort.”
Elkins (6-0-3) will return to action at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Preston for another Big 10 contest.
