Bulldogs edge Irish on a late Woods’ putback

CLARKSBURG — Adam Woods’ putback with five seconds left lifted Tygarts Valley to a 48-47 win over Notre Dame on Friday night.

Woods finished with 15 points on the night.

The Irish had an opportunity at game’s end for the win but a shot at the buzzer was off the mark.

Senior Jacob Wamsley paced the Bulldogs with 17 points.

Notre Dame led 23-19 at halftime but the Bulldogs held a 16-12 scoring edge to go in front at 35-33.

Tygarts Valley (3-4) will host regional foe Pendleton County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a make-up contest.

Isaiah Garner had 14 points and JoJo Mimmocci added 11 for Notre Dame, which fell to 0-8 and hosts South Harrison on the same evening.
