Colts best Bulldogs in opener; Lady Tigers split games
MILL CREEK — Anthony Mosesso had a three-run homer and finished with five RBIs to power Philip Barbour to a 15-2 win over Tygarts Valley Saturday in its season opener.
Mosesso had a two-run single as part of an eight-run second inning and connected on his homer in the third.
Robbie Jones allowed just one hit in going the first three innings to earn the win. He fanned four and walked one.
Jacob Wamsley was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs (four being earned) on eight hits in two innings of work. He fanned four.
Kent Rowan and Slaton Harris added three hits each for the Colts. Braxton Carpenter went 2 for 3.
Wamsley and Woods had RBIs for the Bulldogs, who are now 1-1 and visit Highland County (Va.) today.
Philip Barbour visits Buckhannon-Upshur today.

Lady Tigers split games
ELKINS — Elkins dropped a 15-2 verdict to Morgantown on Saturday in the home opener.
Gabby Mahanes and Addison Carr accounted for the Lady Tigers’ RBIs.
Maddie Lambert was tagged with the loss.
On Friday, Elkins opened the season with a 16-1 victory at Pocahontas County.
Hailey Riffle and Joselynn Swecker each had two hits for the Lady Tigers.
Riffle, Madi Shreve, Mahanes, Swecker, Carr and Lalia Cade added RBIs.
Lambert earned the win, giving up just three hits, striking out five and walking one in going all five innings.
Elkins is slated to host Fairmont Sennior at 5 p.m. today, weather permitting.
Lady Bucs win pair
TENNERTON — Buckhannon-Upshur picked up wins against Parkersburg South and Big 10 Conference foe Grafton on Saturday.
The Lady Bucs (3-1) defeated South, 11-3, as Becca Pastorius, Zoey Burr and Kynnedy Marple had three RBIs each.
Marple was also the winning pitcher, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out nine walking one in going all five innings.
B-U erupted for nine runs in the second inning en route to a 16-8 victory over the Lady Bearcats in its second game.
Pastorius had a three-run homer in the win, while Burr drove in four runs.
Charity Talbott went all five frames to pick up the win, allowing eight runs (two earned) on eight hits, fanning six and issuing three walks.
B-U is scheduled to host Philip Barbour at 6 p.m. today.
Lady Colts drop DH
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour dropped a doubleheader to Frankfort on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Falcons won by scores of 9-2 and 14-6.
Payton Holbert 2 for 3 two RBIs in the first game for the Lady Colts, while Paige Starkey had three RBIs, going 2 for 3 in the nightcap.
Philip Barbour (0-2) is slated to visit Buckhannon-Upshur at 6 p.m. today.
