RCB trips Tigers; Bucs, Colts and Bulldogs earn wins

CLARKSBURG — Robert C. Byrd used a 10-run third inning en route to a 13-2 win over Elkins Thursday in Big 10 Conference action.

Jaxson Maglowski earned the win on the mound and helped his cause at the plate, going 4 for 4 with two RBIs.

He allowed two runs on two hits over 3 1/3 innings, striking out eight and walking two.

Brady Biller was charged with the loss.

Blayne Thompson, Braden Cooper and Trent Stone had one hit each for the Tigers, who dropped to 1-2 and will open the home season Tuesday against North Marion.

B-U 14, North Marion 4

TENNERTON — Brody McDaniels drove in five runs and earned the win on the mound as Buckhannon-Upshur rolled to a 14-4 win over North Marion Thursday in Big 10 Conference action.

McDaniels had two-run singles in each of the second and fourth innings and an RBI single in the third.

On the mound, McDaniels went four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out seven.

Jacob Frye worked one inning of relief.

Ollie Lantz took the loss for the Huskies in two innings of work, surrendering seven runs (one earned) on six hits with three strikeouts.

Jaxon Spratt added three hits and four RBIs, on two doubles, and Frye added two for the Bucs, who are now 2-0 and will visit Lincoln on Monday.

Justin Waskis went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Huskies.

Philip Barbour 12

Lewis County 0

WESTON — Kale Wolfe had five RBIs and Robbie Jones twirled a four-hitter to power Philip Barbour to a 12-0 win over Lewis County Thursday in Big 10 play.

Wolfe had a bases-clearing triple in the seventh and a two-run triple in the sixth.

Landyn Carpenter added three hits and two RBIs and Anthony Mosesso a two-run homer for the Colts.

Jones, meanwhile, fanned three in going all seven innings.

Philip Barbour (3-1) entertains Grafton on Tuesday.

Tygarts Valley 24

Pocahontas County 0

MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley erupted for 17 runs in the first inning to coast to a 24-0 win over Pocahontas County on Thursday.

Jacob Wamsley’s three-run homer highlighted the first-inning outburst for the Bulldogs, while Corban Oldaker, Noah McAtee, Luke Wamsley, Austin Wilson, Adam Woods, Zayden Defibaugh and Cooper Markley accounted for RBIs.

Woods had a triple and single in the frame, Luke Wamsley a double and Wilson a double and single.

Jacob Wamsley also had an RBI single as well to his round-tripper.

Defibaugh didn’t allow a hit in going all three innings, fanning seven and walking one.

Dylan Keller was tagged with the loss for the Warriors.

Tygarts Valley (3-2) remains home Saturday to face Lewis County.

Pocahontas County (0-3) visits Greenbrier West on the same day.
