Lady Bucs trip regional foe Oak Hill, 7-1

Marple fans 11, Knabeshue, Tucker ignite offense in win

OAK HILL — Kynnedy Marple struck out 11 and allowed just four hits in a complete-game effort as Buckhannon-Upshur picked up a 7-1 win over South Region foe Oak Hill on Wednesday.

The Lady Bucs treated Kennedy to a 3-0 lead before she took to the mound as Madi Knabenshue’s single in the bottom of the first plated Marple and Payton Brown.

Knabenshue then raced home on Zoey Burr’s two-out single.

An RBI single by Squires made it 4-0 in the second inning.

The Lady Red Devils dented the scoreboard in the third on an error.

B-U, however, answered in the fourth when Marple tripled in Braylea Squires then scored on Knabenshue’s groundout.

Maddie Tucker’s homer to center in the sixth closed the scoring.

KK Smith was saddled with the loss, allowing nine hits, striking out four and walking four in going all seven innings.

Payten Farrell went 2 for 3 at the plate for Oak Hill.

The Lady Bucs (10-5) entertain Fairmont Senior at 6:30 p.m. today.
