The Mountaineers played an extra-inning game, had a game postponed, making for a doubleheader on Saturday, and did all of it without their top pitcher, Maxx Yehl. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Kyle Harrison collected a career-high 12 strikeouts and allowed just one hit and one walk in six scoreless innings as the Milwaukee Brewers avoided a sweep by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0 on Sunday. The Pirates were attempting to complete a sweep in Milwaukee for the first time since winning four straight games here in August 2016. MORGANTOWN — Before West Virginia football started the football portion of the Gold-Blue Spring Festival, the program recognized multiple players for preseason awards. One of which included the Tommy Nickolich Memorial Award winner. Nickolich was a former WVU player from 1980-82, who died of cancer in 1983.
