The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is now urging all motorists to use extra caution while driving during the months of October, November and December. This year the state appears to have a higher than average abundance of white-tails, especially in the mountainous counties which includes Randolph. According to a survey that was conducted by the State Farm Insurance Agency, in West Virginia a motorist has the biggest possibility of having a deer collision (1 in 46) than any other state in the nation. Writer finally goes squirrel hunting

I decided to go squirrel hunting two weeks ago. It was about 7:15 a.m. when I started into the woods with my grandfather’s old J.C. Higgins bolt-action, 12 gauge shotgun. All of the foot trails were not just damp, they were downright muddy due to all of the rain we had received during that week. The 2018 racing season is in the books at Elkins Raceway and the track would like to thank you for your support throughout the year. We do what we do out at the speedway for you the fans. Without you there would be no reason to do all the hard work it takes to put on the races. Weather not favorable for hunting right now

This week, I have been getting some friendly criticism from a few of my hunting friends. I know that the squirrel season has been in for three weeks and I haven’t been in the woods at all. The reasons for this are simple. It has been either too hot or it has been raining when I could go. Let's face some facts. The temperatures for this month have not been below 40 degrees for any day in September. During the daylight hours, quite often, the temperatures are in the low to mid 80s.
