Pride in the Park set for Saturday

ELKINS — Women’s Aid in Crisis is set to host the annual Pride in the Park event in Elkins City Park on Saturday.

“Our pride event on Saturday is a show of unity with the LGBT community and a celebration on love,” said J. Palmer, director of Women’s Aid in Crisis.

Beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m., the event will include games, face painting, food, music, giveaways and other activities.

The event will be free and open to the public.

The family friendly event will honor National Pride Month, which is celebrated the entirety of the month of June.

The free event’s organizers ask everyone, young and old, to come show their support for the LGBTQ members in the community.

Everyone is invited to the event, regardless of sexual orientation. Individuals are encouraged to come support individuals in their community along with encouraging a safe atmosphere.
