Elkins to use TIF for wayfinding

ELKINS — The Elkins City Council approved using Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds to create wayfinding signs for downtown. During the council’s June 11 meeting, all nine present council members voted in favor of Resolution 1933, which accepts and authorizes the execution of an agreement with the Mills Group to design wayfinding signs, authorizes the expenditure of TIF funds and directs the Municipal Properties Committee to assist with the project. The Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy is pleased to announce Class 1-26 as the 66th class to complete this West Virginia National Guard Program. Commencement exercises were held on Friday, June 12, at Camp Dawson in Kingwood. A total of 85 graduates from 27 counties across the State of West Virginia successfully completed the requirements for graduation. Senator Randy E. ELKINS — As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday on the Fourth of July, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office is also counting down the days until it reaches a significant milestone of its own. Grand Jury to hear breaking and entering case

ELKINS — The Grand Jury will hear the case against a Randolph County man accused of breaking in and stealing items from a local hotel after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Joshua Richard Slayton, 32, is charged with one count of breaking and entering, a felony. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. Slayton appeared in Randolph County Magistrate Court on Tuesday and, according to magistrate court records, waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
