United Way kickoff auction a success

Thanks to the Randolph County community, the United Way of Randolph County has added $18,755 towards their $100,000 campaign goal with their annual campaign kickoff auction. I am so glad that all those celebrities from Hollywood and our great leaders in Washington and across the nation took their vaccination with the press pushing cameras in their face. “See there folks; it didn’t hurt at all. Assistance program losing support

Our church recently learned Helping Hands in Elkins will be losing all assistance from the United Way in Elkins. This is a concern because Helping Hands is a small local assistance program that provides immediate assistance to those in need. Helping Hands does not replace other assistance programs but provides immediate, emergency relief. I remember how Helping Hands was formed – it was shortly after the 1985 flood. Meeting a true hero

Chuck Yeager was a personal hero of mine growing up and a big reason as to why I later joined the U.S Air Force and served my country for 20 years. I learned about him in school here in Elkins and how he was from West Virginia. I could not believe he was such a great person and that he was from West Virginia. Distance learning needs to stay in place

As many are already aware, on Nov. 17 the Randolph County Board of Education made the decision to end distance learning. According to the article printed in The Inter-Mountain on Nov. 19, 1,006 students are enrolled in distance learning and 326 of these students are failing at least one class. It is my understanding that this is the main reason for ending distance learning.
