FREE WORKSHOP: on “Powerful Messaging Training” will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Kump Education Center in Elkins. Learn how to request/facilitate a meeting with any elected official. Build a strong foundation to effectively communicate your concerns.
WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The weekly Wednesday jam sessions, sponsored by Augusta, are now taking place next-door at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue in Elkins. Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and Old-Time Jams are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All levels are welcome, as well as singers and listeners. Look for entry signage (enter from C.J. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FISH FRY: will be offered Fridays during Lent at St. Brendan Catholic Church Parish Hall on April 4 and 11, from 4-7 p.m. each day. The menu will be fish, french fries, coleslaw, bread, dessert and a drink. There is a cost for adults, and a lesser cost for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 5 will be admitted free.
SPAGHETTI DINNER: Shining Light Christian Academy will hold a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, April 5, from 3-7 p.m. Meals include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, drinks and dessert. All proceeds will go to our new school opening in August 2025. First Baptist Church will host the event at 412 Randolph Ave, Elkins. For more information call 304-636-3448.
‘HANDS OFF’ RALLY: will be Saturday, April 5 at noon at the Randolph County Courthouse. This is part of many nationwide actions taking place that day. Bring a sign and a friend. Immediately following the rally at 1:30 p.m. there will be a meeting at the Woodford Church, 113 First Street in Elkins for community conversations. Everyone is welcome to attend. CEMETERY CAKEWALK: will be Saturday, April 5 at the Talbott Community Building on the Talbott Road. The kitchen will be open at 5 p.m. The cakewalk will be at 7 p.m. An Easter Egg hunt will be at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Talbott Cemetery.
OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo, Dulcimer, Bass are welcome. Participants enter through the back door. For more information, contact dp-foot@hotmail.com.
OPEN MIC POETRY NIGHT: will be offered free at The Arts Center on April 11 from 6-8 p.m. Celebrating National Poetry Month, community members are welcome and encouraged to read a poem of their choice (your own work or one of your favorites). Cookies and drinks will be available for guests.
