RANDOLPH COUNTY FARM BUREAU: will host a meeting with Rebecca Taylor giving a talk on why parasites and Lime Disease are so prevalent today at 7 p.m. at Camp Pioneer. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. Everyone welcome.
BROWN BAG CONCERT: Wish Awake will be performing at the Arts Center on Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for the monthly free Brown Bag Concert. Local performers Stephanie and Leskie Tompkins of Wish Awake will bring an original acoustic experience, “blending a variety of musical styles while bringing a high energy to the stage.”
RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will hold their August Meeting Friday, Aug. 22, at the Homestead Community Center in Dailey. Set-up at 4:30 p.m. and a covered dish dinner at 5 p.m., meeting to Follow. Drinks and paper products provided. Scholarship Auction will be held. All Randolph County School retirees are welcome. FARMERS MARKET: The Elkins Farmers Market, located behind the Railroad Depot, is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Lots of parking is available behind the Summit Church buildings. We have a large variety of vegetables of the season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and many more items.
HOMECOMING: The annual homecoming at Harrison Community Church in Mabie will be held Sunday, Aug. 24. The day will begin with Sunday School at 10 a.m, continue with lunch in the pavilion around noon and an afternoon service at 1:30-2 p.m. The special singer for the day is Jimmy Harris and the special speaker for the day will be Rev. Tim Turner. Pastor Sean Barnett invites everyone to attend and enjoy the day of fellowship.
SUFFRAGETTE TEA PARTY: Join for an afternoon of high tea, tours, music, and conversation on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at the historic Kump mansion on Randolph Ave, Elkins. Learn about the brave suffragists whose hard work led to the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Also included will be home tours, delicious treats, hot and cold drinks, and door prizes. Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to dress in period attire. OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. CHENOWETH REUNION: The 111th Chenoweth Reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Chenoweth Shelter located on Chenoweth Creek Road. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with lunch served at noon. Please bring a covered dish and item for the raffle. Plates and Cutlery will be provided.
HIGGINS REUNION: The Higgins Reunion will be Saturday, Aug. 31, at Camp Pioneer. Gather at noon and odd will be at 1 p.m. Please bring a covered dish and come enjoy good food and company.
