County considers iPads for health dept. workers
ELKINS — The Randolph County Commission will consider the purchase of iPad tablets for the Elkins-Randolph County Health Department during its regular meeting on Thursday.
The meeting will take place at the James Cain Randolph County Courthouse Annex, which was closed for a week until reopening Tuesday. The commission shut down the facility last week because of the rising number of COVID-19 cases within the courthouse and community spread within the county.
Elkins-Randolph County Health Department employees have been working tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and their workload has increased recently due to performing contact tracing and also coordinating COVID-19 vaccination efforts within the community.
The iPads would help with the massive workload the staff has on their plate daily, officials said.
Also on Thursday, the commission will consider approval of COVID-19-related sick leave for the upcoming year.
Other items on the meeting agenda include: Consider signing a resolution for a Community Development Block Grant; consider renewal of a new service agreement for a county grant writer; consider approval of a HAVA Subgrant Agreement; and consider signing a letter of support for the ABB concrete block plant.
The public comment section of the meeting will get things started after a short prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
