ELKINS — A Randolph County man faces a felony drug charge after police allegedly found four “large bags containing a green leafy substance” at his residence.
Cody Jon Keefer, 24, is charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver, a felony. Keefer is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond issued by Randolph County Magistrate Michael Dyer.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper H. J. Bonetti with the West Virginia State Police, on Sunday, Bonetti and Trooper T. J. Sclimenti executed a search warrant for Keefer’s Second Street residence alongside Corporal R. A. Summerfield and Patrolman T. J. Knotts with the Elkins City Police Department.
During the search of the residence, Bonetti allegedly observed multiple smoking apparatuses throughout the space, the complaint states. Bonetti also allegedly observed two scales with marijuana residue on them, as well as a pint jar and two large bags containing a “green leafy substance consistent with marijuana” in the living room of the residence.
Two more large bags containing a “green leafy substance consistent with marijuana” were also allegedly found in the bedroom, the complaint states. Bonetti also allegedly observed a Winchester .270 in the laundry room.
According to the complaint, Knotts read Keefer his Miranda Rights, which Keefer allegedly waived, agreeing to speak to the officers. Keefer allegedly advised the officer that “it is a possibility” there would be a record of transactions for selling marijuana on his cellphone.
