Boos & Applause

Applause to members of the Davis & Elkins College Student Body Government, who met with Elkins and Randolph County officials and members of the community during the Senator Impact Luncheon at Graceland Inn luncheon on Thursday morning to discuss community outreach. D&E President Chris Wood welcomed those in attendance, including Delegate Bill Hartman, D-Randolph, Elkins City Councilman Charlie Friddle, and representatives of many organizations and downtown businesses.

Applause to the annual downtown Scarecrow Festival in downtown Elkins last weekend. The festival is in its second year, but this is the fifth year that scarecrows have decorated the streets of downtown Elkins. The entertainment for this year consisted of AXIS, Mountain Gymnastics Academy, Pure Country Twirlettes and Tumble Time. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the scarecrow contest.

Applause to the Elkins High School marching band on a major victory in a regional tournament. EHS took home the title of Chapter 13 Champions during the Tournament of the Bands on Oct. 19. Competing in the open class, group 4, EHS won over judges with its field show performance, including songs from “Moana” and “The Avengers.” EHS is under the relatively new direction of 2017 West Virginia Wesleyan College graduate Seth Blake.
