Reader: ‘Bad economy’ has effects for everyone

Gas prices are going up and at the gas station there is a mother praying that the $15 of gas she put into her car will get her through the week. Why just $15 ? So that she will have money to afford groceries.  Who is this bad economy affecting?  The Hispanic, African-American, Asian and the Anglo-American (White).  Riots breakout in New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles. Those in the big cities head home right after work for fear of getting caught in some last-minute skirmish. I’m well aware that people in the U.S. are living in two separate realities and mainstream media and social media just make that situation so much worse. For some reason, critical thinking has gone by the wayside. This is a response to the letter by Vic White in the Saturday, Sept. 21 edition of The Inter-Mountain. I know Vic. Have known him all my life, but our viewpoints don’t match up. I don’t have a political sign in my yard now, but after reading his letter I will have soon. It will be a Harris for President sign. I’d like to clear the air about something that’s been in my craw for several months. Common ordinary people are being fed a big lie by the media who keep bashing Trump’s claim that illegal immigrants are taking black jobs, legal Latino jobs, and legal Asian immigrant jobs among others. Bill restricts transgender sports participation

Since the passage of HB 3293 some three years ago, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has been in numerous court battles defending this bill, the latest an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court (The Inter-Mountain 7-15-24). Factory farms are destroying the environment and harming animals on a massive scale. Their waste pollutes our water, harms sea life, and creates awful conditions for people living nearby. And now, these big U.S. meat companies are moving their operations to developing countries, which will hurt local farmers, food supplies, and the environment there, too.
