Senators set to begin MEC tourney play
Travel to Concord tonight after game at Wesleyan gets canceled
ELKINS — After Saturday’s game at West Virginia Wesleyan was canceled due to MEC protocol, Davis & Elkins begins league tournament play today.
The Senators are the fifth seed in the South Division and will travel to Concord, the No. 4 seed in the South, today.
The top five teams in each division qualified for the tournament, with the top three in each division receiving byes.
West Liberty won the North Division, while the University of Charleston took home the South Division.
Fairmont State finished as the No. 2 seed in the North Division, and Notre Dame is the No. 3 seed in the North and, along with West Liberty, receive a bye through to the quarterfinals. Alderson Broaddus is seeded fourth and will host fifth-seeded Wheeling in the first round this evening.
In the South, Glenville State secured the No. 2 seed, while West Virginia State locked up the No. 3 spot.
The Golden Eagles, Pioneers and Yellow Jackets all receive byes through to the quarterfinals.
The Wesleyan women, who defeated D&E, 75-56, on Saturday, are the fifth seed in the South.
The Lady Bobcats will visit No. 4 West Virginia State today in first round play of the MEC tourney.
Alderson Broaddus is the fifth seed in the North Division and will travel to No. 4 Fairmont State this evening.
Notre Dame College captured the North Division, while the University of Charleston secured the South Division.
