Philip Barbour’s Ethan Gregory has been named the WVHSSCA’s co-Player of the Year.
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour’s Ethan Gregory recently picked up more postseason honors — this time from the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association.
Gregory, a senior midfielder, was named the Class AA-A co-Player of the Year with Fairmont Senior’s Bubby Towns and selected to the all-state first team. He was recently named the Big 10 Conference Player of the Year as well.
Teammate Grant Dadisman, a senior forward, earned second-team laurels.
Area players selected as honorable mention included Elkins senior midfielders Austin Elliott and Aaron Elliott and Philip Barbour senior forward Trenton Whited.
Other individual honors went to Sissonville’s Jaxson Haynes (Forward of the Year), Williamstown’s Gavin Bosgraf and Charleston Catholic’s Sully Groom (co-Midfielders of the Year), Fairmont Senior’s Nate Flower (Defender of the Year), Notre Dame’s Wade Britton (Keeper of the Year) and Point Pleasant’s Chip Wood (Coach of the Year).
In Class AAA, Buckhannon-Upshur senior defender Julien Larcher received first-team honors and senior midfielder Caden Andrick was named to the second unit.
George Washington’s Nick Ihnat was the Class AAA Player of the Year, while other honors went to Woodrow Wilson’s Carson Eckley (Forward of the Year), Cabell Midland’s Ryan Holmes (Midfielder of the Year), Woodrow Wilson’s Evan Laraba (Defender of the Year), Capital’s Brayden Scott and Spring Valley’s Crosby Short (co-Keepers of the Year) and Hurricane’s Cody Freas (Coach of the Year).
