Lady Colts secure Big 10 title

WESTON — The Philip Barbour girls soccer team secured the Big 10 Conference regular-season title with a 6-1 win over Lewis County on Tuesday night.

The Class AA-A, second-rated Lady Colts are now 14-3-1 overall and finished with a 10-1-1 mark in league games.

Philip Barbour led 3-0 at halftime on goals by Arrington Sparks, Ashley Poling and Braylyn Sparks.

Riley McCartney, Caylee Simons and Jorjalynn Ward had first-half assists.

Simons made it 4-0 off an assist from McCartney early into the second half.

Braylyn Sparks and Poling concluded the scoring.

Cheyenne Kittle provided the helper on Poling’s goal.

Avery Swiger and Lilly Talbott both saw time in goal in the win.

Bianca Jamen had the goal for the Minutemaids (2-14-1, 1-10-0 Big 10) off an assist from Shaelin Smith.

Lewis hosts Liberty today.

Philip Barbour faces a stern test today when it visits Class AAA, top-rated Morgantown (14-1-0) for a 6:30 p.m. match to conclude the regular season.
