ELKINS — The Elkins High School girls basketball team is having a special season, led by a trio of senior standouts.
Gracelin Corley, Emerson Haddix and Laney Fletcher are key contributors for the Lady Tigers, who are 14-6 this season, accomplishing their first winning record since the 2008-2009 campaign.
Corley has amassed over 950 points during her career as she attempts to reach 1,000 career points and join an exclusive group.
Fletcher and Haddix have both stepped up their games in scoring as well.
Haddix played a big part in a win over rival Buckhannon-Upshur last week, bucketing seven of her nine points in a third-quarter surge.
Fletcher, meanwhile, was big offensively and on defense in a win over Robert C. Byrd on Feb. 3, which secured the top seed for Elkins in the upcoming Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 tourney.
The Lady Tigers still have games remaining, however, before the start of the postseason.
They will venture to Class AAAA, No. 10 Greenbrier East this evening.
Elkins then concludes the regular season Thursday at Class AAA, No. 5 North Marion for a Big 10 Conference encounter.
