DAVIS — Tygarts Valley punched its ticket to the state golf tournament by capturing the Class A, Region II tourney Monday at Canaan Valley Resort Golf Club.

The Bulldogs finished with a 264 to best runner-up Pendleton County, which also earned a state spot, by six strokes.

Tucker County (272), East Hardy (310), Pocahontas County (310) and Union (396) rounded out the field.

Owen Bell carded an 83 to lead Tygarts Valley, followed by Mason Phillips (90), Parker Bell (91) and Alijah Row-Sponaugle (93).

Tucker County’s Nathan Davis won the individual regional title with a 79 to earn a spot in the state tourney, along with teammate Andrew Simmons, who was runner-up with an 80.

Pendleton County was led by Dylan Eye with an 87, Braylon Ward shot a 92 for Union, Shayne Sisler led East Hardy with a 94 and Pocahontas County by Warren Burns’ 96.

The state tournament will be held Oct. 14-15 at the Speidel Golf Club/Jones Course at Oglebay Park in Wheeling.
