ROMNEY — The Tygarts Valley cross country team competed in the Potomac Valley Championships Tuesday at Hampshire High School. Although none of the Bulldogs were able to achieve personal records at one of their most demanding courses of the season, each runner continued to demonstrate the hard work, determination, and commitment that have defined this team throughout its inaugural year. MORGANTOWN — Just before West Virginia football home games end, I try to make my way down from the press box to the field to catch the last couple of minutes from the sideline and to be immersed in the atmosphere. In the first two games of the season, I had to bob and weave through the crowd who were leaving just to beat the traffic. MORGANTOWN — Arizona scored 52 points on West Virginia football’s defense. For the third straight week, defensive coordinator Zac Alley’s defense gave up 40-plus points and well over 400 yards of offense being the major reason for why the team lost. ELKINS — After a thrilling second-half rally to upend North Marion this past Friday night, Elkins has climbed to second in the latest WVSSAC playoff ratings released on Tuesday. The Tigers (6-1) overcame a 24-7 halftime deficit at home to hand the then-No. 2 Huskies a 41-24 setback, jumping up three spots in the ratings. D&E harriers compete at Carnegie Mellon invite

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The Davis & Elkins College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed against a large field of NCAA Division I, II and III programs at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational this past Saturday, with the men finishing seventh and the women placing 10th. Freshman Riccardo Andreatta led the men’s team with an eighth-place finish in the 8K, crossing the line in 24:56.3 among 234 runners.
