Wetherholt will make his MLB debut for the St. Louis Cardinals as they host the Tampa Bay Rays at 4:15 p.m., becoming the 32nd Mountaineer to reach the big leagues. Wetherholt was called up to the majors as the league’s No. 5 overall prospect. After he was drafted with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Wetherhold hit .304 with a .931 OPS across the lower leagues and drove in 19 home runs. The Tigers erupted for 16 runs in the fifth inning, with Stone hitting a two-run triple, Dyer Barger a two-run triple and an RBI single and Owen Stanley, Isaac Shepler, Caden Kreps, Brady Biller, Braden Cooper and James Linger RBI singles. MORGANTOWN — West Virginia’s offensive line coach, Rick Trickett, had dinner with one of the new young coaches on the staff, who was helping with the corners. The coach was getting chewed out. Trickett went onto YouTube and found a video of his former coaching partner, Nick Saban, coaching corners. Trickett sent it to the coach.
