PETERSBURG — Jenna Burgess homered and drove in four runs as Petersburg claimed a 12-5 win over Buckhannon-Upshur Saturday in non-conference softball action.

The Lady Vikings improved to 23-2 on the year.

Burgess cracked a two-run single in the first and added a homer in the second frame.

Madison Whetzel added two hits and an RBI for the Lady Vikings, while Mackenzie Kitzmiller and Lauren Alt added two hits apiece.

Alli Robinson had a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Lady Bucs.

Brooklyn Bryant added two doubles and an RBI and Shelby McDaniels drove in a run.

Cooper went three scoreless innings to earn the win. She gave up just one hit and fanned six.

Ciara Melton was saddled with the loss. She gave up seven runs on seven hits and struck out one.

Alyssa Rohr went three innings, surrendering five runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one.

Both teams will be in action today as Petersburg hosts Mountain Ridge (Md.) at 6:30 p.m. and B-U will travel to Philip Barbour for a 5 p.m. Big 10 contest.
