Senators garner split with Findlay

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College baseball team split a pair of games with the University of Findlay Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action at Harpertown Field.

The Senators, who are now 6-36 overall and 6-20 in G-MAC play, won the opener, 3-1, but was handed a 12-1 loss in the nightcap.

Brent McMillion twirled a complete-game to lead the Senators to the Game 1 victory. McMillion allowed just two hits, struck out 11 and walked two in nine innings of work.

Tanner Wickham paced Davis & Elkins at the plate with three hits and one RBI. Justin Worley followed with two hits, while Guiseppe Orlando and Grayson Caldwell both drove in a run on one hit.

Alex Harter suffered the Game 1 loss for the Oilers (13-26, 7-19) in five inning pitched. Harter gave up two runs on eight hits.

Derrick Herd and Sam Shelt Palm had the lone hits for Findlay in the contest.

Herd and Jordan Willians has two hits and two RBIs ach to lead the Oilers to the Game 2 victory. Nic Varda knocked in one run on three hits.

Tyler Rendlesham eared the win for Findlay in seven inning pitched. He scattered five hits, struck out four and walked three.

Max Larimore took the loss for the Senators in five innings pitched. He surrendered two runs on four hits, while striking out four and walking four.

Orlando and Brandon Plummer collected two hits apiece to lead Davis & Elkins in a losing effort.

Wickham had the only other hit for the hosts in the contest.

The Senators will return to action Saturday when they entertain Lake Erie for a noon doubleheader.
